Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta own the UFC. Dana White supposedly has a small share, maybe 10%.
The first HW champion was Mark Coleman who defeated Dan Severn at UFC 12.
However, the real first HW champ was Ken Shamrock who won the “Superfight” belt over Dan Severn at UFC 6. Severn would eventually beat Shamrock for the Superfight Belt at UFC 9.
Dana is the president, but the Fertita brothers own it, with Dana owning ten percent.
mark coleman, and no.
Technically, the first UFC Heavyweight Champion is Mark “The Hammer” Coleman. He defeated Dan “The Beast” Severn by submission due to a neck crank at UFC 12: Judgement Day. He lost the title in his first defense, losing a unanimous decision to Maurice Smith at UFC 14: Showdown.
However, the first UFC Superfight Champion is Ken “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” Shamrock, who defeated Dan “The Beast” Severn by guillotine choke at UFC 6: Clash of the Titans. The Superfight is an open weight, one fight event between previous tournament champions.
Dana White is not the official owner of the UFC. He is the UFC President, in charge of making most of the major decisions. You are correct in that White’s friends, casino executives Lorenzo Fertitta and the late Frank Fertitta III, bought the UFC from Semaphore Entertainment Group under Zuffa, LLC. They agreed Dana White would be its president and manager. He is a partial owner, with about 10% of the shares.
