A ufc fighter vs a proffessional soldier in a hand to hand combat fight?

by MasterBlaster on June 6, 2010

ima curious in who would win, it goes from a proffessional fighter who goes hardcore for peoples entertainment, to a soldier trained for war, etc.

Soldier trained for war.
A soldier has nothing to lose.
They’ll die for the flag in seconds.
They don’t care about getting hit.
It’s 90% mental, 10% physical in a fight.

soldier train everyday to kill. in other words, the fighter will be dead.

If the physical aspects of the two are the same, then the type and amount of training would decide. I believe the UFC fighter would have put in more training, and win the fight.

it would depend..Is this hand to hand? because soldiers are trained to use whatever they can, their rifles, side arms, knives, tools, ect…Hand to hand is their last resort. Also soldiers are trained to kill or maim an enemy, while mixed martial artists are trained to earn points, ko, or submit opponents. soldiers would have no problem fighting dirty.

fighter
because the fighter already can beat 99% of people
you have this idea that just say because andreson silva fights in the UFC and know the UFC has rules as of better rules sense 97
and its improved condiotions sense 93
that he cannot fight or defend him self

the fighters train 99% of time for hand combat only

soilders spend 10% or less on hand to hand combat

give the soilder a gun
or knife
he’s gonna win
espically a gun

but i find it incredibly hard to belive that your average soilder
or even marine
or special forces guy could beat anderson silva
or let alone knock him out
and the chances of them taking these top top fighters down and getting a submission is highly highly unlikely, and the chance of landing a groin strike is unlikely as it will be checked, so if you told anderson silva that he has to kill the other guy im sure he’d throw a very fast shot to the knee take out your knee than your nuts, sense he is the most accurate perscise striker on earth and than he would stomp you

i mean really

if randy couture for example could not take liddell down
how could a soilder?
couture was an olympic wrestler
top greco roman wrestler

The fighter always wins, it’s what they do…. Unarmed combat/Hand to hand.

Arman,

I assume you are referring to an average servicemember versus an average professional fighter. If, on the other hand one or the other is above average (but more skilled at their “art” than the other) I would give that person the advantage.

Generally speaking, airmen, marines, sailors and soldiers are poorly trained for hand-to-hand combat and even firearms. They do not spend much time on the firing range at all, once qualified most servicemen and women only re-qualify annually. The exceptions are elite forces who train more often and receive additional training in hand-to-hand combat but are specifically spending the majority of their time in hand-to-hand combat training or physical conditioning specifically for hand-to-hand combat.

Professional fighters on the other hand spend the majority of their time in physical conditioning and training for fights as such is their job.

Thus, given no weapons or the same melee weapons I would place bets on the professional fighter nine times out of ten. The exception is members of elite forces who I would give an equal chance to a professional fighter.

There are soldiers who fight for the UFC, they don’t necessarily win all the time.

Mooman June 6, 2010 at 22:40

Ok i know in movies soldiers are experts at hand to hand but in reality…….They really don’t train all that much in had to hand, even special forces don’t train that much in hand to hand.Hand to hand for a navy seal means shit has hit the fn fan and it’s gonna get dirty quick, they would want to know basic kill thrust to kill and get out fast.A MMA fighter on the other hand trains hours a day to do one thing Fight.I have a friend who is a Army Ranger and he told me their hand to hand course is only about a week long.A MMA fighters is as long as he has the urge to train. There is also a Navy Seal in my BJJ gym.I roll with him all the time, and yes rolling isn’t really fighting,it gives you a good idea if you could beat the other guy in a real fight and, i would def have to say i could hold my own against him and im no elite soldier.

In a hand to hand fight the MMA guy would win,he is trained for 1 thing to fight. The soldier is trained to survive a war,use guns knives whatever to survive.Of he was not able to use deadly force or had a knife or gun in the mix the MMA guy would win.Brian Stann is a former marine and he has been beaten several times in the UFC and a few in WEC.So this pretty much answers your question right there.

@patrick.Dude are you on drugs or have you watch Hunted to many times???WTF would a special forces guy be doin spending most of his time learning hand to hand. They have bigger fish to fry.Yeah ok i can see it now inthe headlines.Navys Seals today were unable to take hold of the ship and save the hostages on board, because they were busy training hand to hand and forgot how to deal with terrorist.Atleast they could kicked those pirates asses in hand to hand if they could breached the ship.

Matt June 6, 2010 at 22:57

hand to hand only, ill take the a good mma fighter over a soldier anyday of the week

Dna June 6, 2010 at 23:00

honestly if there was no weapons involved the mma/martial art fighter would win
