I have a question on this…I was never a fighter but found out in school that I could…maeh…don’t know how to say it in english oO…you know that olympic discipline where they throw a little 3-5 kg iron ball from your shoulder? In German you call it “kugelstoßen” Well…I threw it the furthest…does that transfer into more punching power?

BigBassification September 21, 2010 at 13:00

@fardanio Thanks Fardanio for the tip…will work on that…

fardanio September 21, 2010 at 13:12

fardanio September 21, 2010 at 13:28

@BigBassification if u train ur biceps only without speed u wil not get faster but slower u can actualy get 3 kg on each hands and doing the jab techniq

BigBassification September 21, 2010 at 14:32

Is doing weights to build power in boxing reccomendable or does just forfeit your speed in favour of power?….

GuamKomudo September 21, 2010 at 15:25

I love how everyone just comes and talks crap about a guy and his whole life based on a 1 minute and 3 second video xD LOL

GuamKomudo September 21, 2010 at 16:00

I like MMA too, but I am just getting into it, I’m doing some Jujitsu now, and kickboxing, but my background is Karate.
For punching power, you can work on technique with a heavy bag, make sure you’re turn your hips ect The more you do it, the stronger your punch will be. Also I think this is a basic one, just strengthen yourself, push ups, pull ups, weights ect, you will be stronger, and be able to hit harder and faster.
I’m no pro AT ALL, but fighter to fighter, that’s what I think.

lilsm555 September 21, 2010 at 20:15

You can improve on punching power but anything like a natural punching power you can imitate. I truly believe punching power is born and not made you can improve it a little bit but that’s about it.

seyodbeast174 September 21, 2010 at 20:55

0:45-0:58 that is so true this guy knows what hes talking about

666kinski September 21, 2010 at 21:18

This is Justin Fortune. He was or still is the conditioning coach 4 Pacman. so obviously he knows what he’s talking about. Not 2 mention he was a proboxer who fight the likes of Lennox lewis!

Boxing basics should include how to twine those bandages on to your wrist and what type of gloves to choose. I know how to punch.

good

vPanya September 22, 2010 at 05:38

i did muay thai b4 boxing and the hip rotation with kicks helped me out alot with the cross. since kicking requires more hip rotation, u get a better feel of the motion

offthehook2 September 22, 2010 at 05:45

It’s easy for us to judge anything by watching. After walking in ring at 42, yesterday, to get hammered by a young lad. First time doing boxing sparring. The punch you get sparring, is a killer.

You get use to it but man, I’m going back everyday to get that sparring guy sorted. That’s what boxing does. Forget who can do what. Step in ring with this guy, you down with first punch. Forget first round.

Respect to boxers. Wish I started younger. Never too late to start and learn.

spantoja1000 September 22, 2010 at 06:24

Good advice!!!

7loveg September 22, 2010 at 07:06

may i know is training with sandbag is the only way to developed a strong powerful punch? if we do not wear hand-glove during the sandbag practice, will it hurt our fist?
please advice

jlojlo4166363 September 22, 2010 at 08:05

Just so you know he may not look very tenacious right now cause he’s hitting really slow. But he does know what he’s talking about, go watch the match from 1995 with Lennox Lewis even though he lost, you can tell he’s definitely above the adverage boxer.

JCSAP123 September 22, 2010 at 08:20

This is justin fortune? shit lol. To all the dumbass who think that this guy cant box, this guy can box. He has awsome snap in his punches and real powerful. so learn guys~lol
