Hi I always enjoyed helping people and want to do something big. I do Tae Kwon Do and soon Ju jitsu and spar a lot with friends and am pretty good. I like sport fighting like that (not useless violence) and think i could do good in the UFC or IFL or something. I also want to use some prize money to help poor people and stuff. That may sound weird but i really want to. I was inspired by someone who talked about doing the “impossible” for good of others, and i was thinking about fighting even before that and it encouraged me more. Does anyone have any encouraging advice or am i just weird? Do I have a chance? Can you guys/girls give me any tips on training and how to get even better? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Your thoughts are noble, friend. I myself am an MMA (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu dominant) fighter and have thought the same thing. However, I would not reccomend giving your winnings to the poor. This may be more of a philosophical answer, but there will always be poor people. No matter how much money we give, and how much counseling is available, there will always be poverty and homeless in the world. It’s just a sad truth. Instead, I would give to a cause that may actually have an end. Many disease research facilities, children’s hospitals, and such always need money. I would suggest something along those lines.
As far as you having a chance, that is not for me, or anyone else on Yahoo! answers to answer. You know your abilities, and you know how far you are willing to go.
When it comes to tips on training, I would suggest getting conditioned. Being well-conditioned is a very important aspect of MMA fighting, and the most conditioned fighter always has a better chance of being the victor. Also, start manipulating your brazilian Jiu Jitsu abilities to incorporate both delivering, and defending strikes. That’s about the best advice I can give, I hope it helped. Good luck.
While you do hav a good heart. However I hate to say this, but… You don’t know how to help people in the most effective way.
Giving them moneys will just make things worse because then they’ll become dependent on donation. This will just make it even harder for them to pull themselve out of their position.
If you really want to help people, the best thing to do is to become a counselor, doctor, social worker, or other similar things.
Fight for only yourself and keep moneys to yourself! Yes this sound very greedy, but you’re doing people a big favor if you help them by provide them medical care (don’t pay for it! teach them how to get medical care for free or at very low price), giving them advices on how to better manage their mones, encourge them to get education or training, help them find a career, and whatever.
Hope this help you understand how hand out moneys to help people could do lot more harm than helping them in long run.
Also keep in mind most fighter doesn’t make that much moneys. Only the very top fighter make decent moneys and even if they do, it’s not like they’re driving a porsche, living on beach front manison, etc… If they seems rich, it’s because they know what they’re doing with their moneys (stock, real estate, invest, etc…) which doesn’t happen overnight. So your goal of fighting for moneys to help people will be blown out of window quickly. So do yourself a favor, get education and over long run, you’ll learn how you can better help people without spending a penny.
There are two parts to this question, and first of all… ultimate fighting is nothing at all like Taekwondo. You would need to do some serious intensive training to even stand a chance at fighting.
Second, there are tons of guys out there who are good at ultimate fighting who aren’t making any money at it… and definitely not enough to make a huge dent in world poverty.
If you want to make a difference for a cause, get involved with non-profit groups. Volunteer your time. That is the biggest way you can make a difference.
If you want to fight, then go for it… but do it because you love it, because if you do it for the money you will give up after a couple of years when you still aren’t making any.
Your intentions are great, but I doubt you will get into UFC without a pro record. If you’re serious about becoming an MMA fighter, train like crazy and fight in some local shows, you may get some recognition.
