I thought the UFC had the best MMA fighters. boy was I wrong! Anderson Silva dismantling of Rich Franklin pretty much somes it up.
I remember seeing Bob (The Beast) Sapp vs. Ernesto Hoost in K-1 a while back thinking the UFC was better… Wrong!
So these are my questions… (Only guys worth mentioning that are UFC home grown, I think?) how would Chuck Liddell match up againist one of Pride FC Champions in similar weight class? since there’s no one that can touch him in the UFC. Tito Ortiz… please! your no match for “The Iceman.”
Also, Matt Hughes vs. a similar weight class Pride FC Champion. since no one can also touch him in the Welterweight Division. (I’d like someone to knock him out.)

Bob Sapp does suck. but that fight has nothing to do with my questions, I thought I’d mention seeing that. I talking about Pride FC Champions. Pride FC has a different breed of fighters.

Oh you come on Tito is really F-ing good! have you seen any of his last fights! hes pretty good i would with out a doubt put my money on Tito. Either way thats going to be a good match in December.

Nobody probably wants this out there but here’s your answer: Chuck Liddell lost to Rampage Jackson, who I think was a pride fighter. Liddell put up a good fight, but he was getting pummelled, and his corner threw in the towel.
But here’s what’s interesting:
Rampage Jackson got whooped twice by a bald figter named either Silva or Silvia – (not the same as the one that beat franklin).
And Tito Ortiz destroyed that guy (Silva). So did a guy named Krokoff. Then a guy named Randall destroyed Krokoff. So yeah, it seems the pride FC champs are better, but at the same time Tito Ortiz did beat that Silva guy (who beat the guy that beat Liddell). I’m pretty sure that except for Liddell and Ortiz the rest of the guys mentioned here are Pride fighters.
You can find most of these fights on You Tube – most of the ones mentioned are brutally short, entertaining fights.
After watching Wanderlei Silva get destroyed by Cro Cop I think Liddell would knock out Silva. Liddell is world class striker and Silva is not. Hughes would beat anybody in Pride’s 170 lb class. GSP and BJ Penn are also big time fighters at that weight class. Also, don’t forget Anderson Silva is a UFC fighter now so that gives UFC 3 big time champions. Pride’s heavyweight fighters are much stronger than the UFC, but that’s all.

I think Chuck would be able to stand with the Pride guys also the someone mentioned he got beat by Rampage that was a long time ago and Chuck has improved since then so has Silva the Silva you saw fight Tito isn’t the same Silva as today. I don’t think that Chuck would take the belt but he would have a good Chance.
When Pride comes to US (this weekend) it won’t be the same Pride because the Athletic commission won’t let the same rules fly that do in other countries (stomps to the head etc.)
I think Matt Hughes also has a good chance at the belt in Pride.
Now someone like Tim Silvia wouldn’t even be on the map in Pride.

Well, you’ve got to remember Chuck fought in pride for a while. I think Chuck could fight anyone and win, his striking and takedown defense is that good.
Matt Hughes, even though I hate the guy and would love to see him get KO’d is the best fighter at 170 anywhere.
The reason I think pride has better fighters than the ufc is because they try to get the best from all over the world ufc gets more homegrown fighters
This debate will rage on until these two organizations finally get their ish together and start scheduling some cross promotion fights. Hopefully Pride will do well enough this weekend to be seen as a relevant competitor to UFC in the US market.
As for the fighters, Chuck and a few others could make the switch to Pride and be successful. However, there are a number of Pride fighters that could come to the UFC and take the belts immediately. Gomi would have a great shot against Matt Hughes. Shogun Rua, Wenderlai Silva and Allister Overeem would all have good shots at Chuck. CroCop, the Emelianenko brothers and Minatauro Nogiera would all handle Tim Sylvia.
Pride is an overall better organization because they get better fighters, pay more and have better rules and events. The last Pride PPV was the best I’ve bought between the two organizations. They produce better matchups, crossover weight classes and aren’t constrained to rematches like the UFC.
I’d like to see a lot of fights between Pride and UFC fighters. Tim Sylvia v. Fedor Emelianenko would be crazy. Arlovski v. CroCop. Liddell v. Silva. Penn v. Gomi.
Liddell’s previous loss to Rampage Jackson meant nothing. Pride doesn’t have a cage to let Liddell get back up after being taken down. In the cage, Liddell can’t be beat.
The answer is very simple. All of these guys have progressed from a few years ago. But the fact is the talent pool is deeper in Pride. You can talk about Lidell and hughes, and oh wait . Ouch !!RICH FRANKLIN WAS THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB FOR THE UFC CHAMPS. This talk about Silva not getting a shot at Chuck because he got knocked out by Crocop, A heavywieght{ who won the tournament I might add} is just a smokescreen. Dana White called off the fight back in Aug. before the final round of the tournament. Even so lidell is nowhere near the calibur of fighter as Crocop. I believe if you were to check out the Pride website you would see that in fact Crocop offered to fight Chuck in Silva’s place if Silva couldn’t because of injury. So who is really dodging who???? Wanderlei Silva will fight Either Chuck or Tito, whoever has the belt,and he’s going to drop them to the canvas. You should know that most of Anderson Silva’s took place while he was on Chute Boxe,Wanderlei’s camp. We all saw what happened, it wasn’t a fluke . It got very quite in the building after Franklin hit the canvas. Remember that silence .
All fighters have improved, but Pride has been putting on better ppv shows. Chuck lost to rampage, Wanderlei Silva beat Rampage, Tito beat Wanderlei Silva, Chuck beat Tito, Chuck beat Kevin Randleman, Kevin Randleman knocked out Crocop. We will have to wait and see if the UFC will actually make these fights between the UFC and PRide happen. Hopefully the winner between Chuck and Tito fight will get Wanderlei Silva. Does Crocop also fight at 205?
