Do you think ground fighting in MMA would be signifignatly different if biting were allowed?

What moves would athletes try to avoid using? Would most people prefer avoiding ground grappling altogether and just go for the KO instead of the risking being bitten?

i dont think biting would significaly change the game. The dominate positions would still be dominate, and so the moves that can be done from those positions would not change. In fact i think that the dominate positions would become even more important.

not really. Biting hurts but many can withstand its pain.

any person with chompers would win!!! lol. that would completely change the game. if you were to bite, then you would have no mouth guard. if you could choose to have one or not, then people who were expert biters. would not have one. that means easier knockouts. i think that there would be plenty of submissions from bitting. screw the rear naked choke, just bite him like dracula. and yeah, there would be way more ko’s. no one likes to be bit. i would rather be hit than bit. ground game would be ka-put!!!

there is an exotic Filipino fighting style known as Kina Mutai which employs biting. It is extremely effective and is taught to Navy Seals and U.S. Army Rangers.
This is more of a street fighting technique and if used in sport fighting would make the sport more bloody and cause serious injury to the participants.

It sure would.

One big chance would be that the state comission would NEVER sanction MMA if that was the case. Bitting can cause serious infections, as the human saliva is full of bacteria, and it can cut flesh with ease.

It would not only be the end of grappling, but the sport of MMA in general.

Yep as in no state atheltic commision would let them hold contests there. As is UFC had to virtually rewrite their rule book to be allowed on TV.

If you wanna see out and out brawls my advice to you is take a job at your nearest state penitentiary, especially the exercise yard. What’s more you may actually get to be a participant.

OK yes biting is an offensive tool and would change the game for sure.
No mouth pieces means more KO and hurt fighters.
And yes if they did that they would loose NGC.

if biting were legal you could get your teeth punched out of your mouth pretty easy beacause it wouldent allow a mouthpiece. as you saw with mike tyson body parts like ears can be easily bitten off lets not even talk about moves like the triangle choke i hope the guy is wearing a cup lol biting would turn mma fighting into what all the critics called it in its nhb days barbaric brutal unsportsmanlike bloodsport

there are many rules that help the fight make it, and stay on the ground, for the safety of the fighters…. if eye gouging, fish hooking were legal some moves wouldnt work, but most would…. if downward strikes, with the point of the elbow, to the back of the head neck or spine were legal… that would make takedowns much more dangerous… but the fact is before there were any rules, people were still getting eat by arm bars and rear naked chokes…. the rules only change how they get to the submission, but regaurdless of rules.. once you are in a bad situation… its over…. good luck

yes would change it alot. you could have alot of evander holyfield lookalikes walking around.

a bite can be dangerous. one bite can disfigure someone, take a ear off or a nose and even if bit on the arm it can cause infection.

it would be intresting to see if the likes off matt hughes, tito and the rest of the ground specialist’s would go the the takedown’s so much. i dont think jenna jameson would be happy if tito came home missing a ear or maybe missing something else if he gets in there with the wrong guy(if you know what i mean)

yes change it alot. some moves would have to adapt. but. easier knockouts cuz of lack of mouthgaurds. also less teeth on fighters. ha ha
