Question by ajwhoie: Does anyone know any training techniques that can help with my boxing “rhythm” ?
My trainer was saying i need more rhythm to my style, i have the technique, I know how to throw strong punches using my core, but i need more flow or rhythm as my trainer calls it. If anybody could give me some techniques or exercises that would help that would be great.

The speed ball aids rhythm as you transfer weight from each foot. But rhythm is a part of your mind. Try an exaggerated form of shadow boxing to music. Perhaps you are too strict in conforming to the english style > when you should relax a bit into your own style. I dont mean letting your arms hang by your side, keep the basics, Right hand up at chin with left jab lead feet in the T stance slightly bent at knees. Work around this stance but in your own comfortable limits. Then you will find a rhythm.
You hav more power from being relaxed than being rigid or tense.

I had the same problem. My trainer is 64, but when he was younger he took dance lessons to help him find his rhythm. I already played the drums, so I had some rhythm. I usually think, or listen to some music while trying to get a good rhythm. Once you get a good rhythm it will be as easy as throwing a jab. Once you master your rhythm it should become second nature. Good Luck!!
