How big is the paycheck of a MMA fighter for a show?

by MasterBlaster on May 3, 2010

How much money pay the MMA organizations to the fighters for a fight. Obviously there’s fighters who charges more than others, then who are the best pay fighters.

Dana White, President of the UFC, has stated that Tito Ortiz earned more than 4 million USD last year. I think he had 4 fights. But, he still needs to pay his agent and manager if they aren’t one in the same, expenses, and of course the tax man. If he was smart, he might have taken home 1 million of that.

The starting contracts for TUF fighter entering the UFC are usually a standard $100,000.00 USD. That could be for 3-5 fights over a one year period.

UFC Champions, and some of top contenders have their contract money plus get a percentage of the ppv buys. I know Tito gets like 3 or 4 dollars on each ppv buy. I imagine it would be the same for the others too. Then the fighters also get money from their sponsors. I remember during one interview where Tito said that Punishment Athletics was paying a fighter more to wear their gear than he was getting paid to fight.

The entry level UFC guys get 2000 or 3000 for their first fights. But of course that doesn’t include all the sponsors they try to get on their clothes (or their backs in Golden Nugget’s case)

it depnds on who the fighter is the guys that are making the big money in the UFC are, Chuck, rampage, randy, cro cop, huges,GSP,tito, not to sure about anderson but after his contract is up and he still has teh belt he might be making so cash, but all the guys other the anderson are makkin close to or over 6 figs a fight and that is not including sponsership money, a cut of the PPV and a smal portion of the gate. so some fighete make over a million dollars a fight but it is not made public becase since UFC is Privatly owed it’s earning don’t have to be made public and that goes with the fighters saliries as well.

On a side not cro cop erand like $ 250,000 on his lose to gonzaga.

The UFC, of course, pays the best.
In smaller shows, guys get anywhere between $500-$1500 or more sometimes if your popular enough WAY more. It all REALLY depends on a fighters fan base. Smaller shows will pay a lot more for a fighter that has fan base demand. If the people want you, you get paid more. To make the people want you, you have to win. The more you win and the more the fans like you, the more money the organiztions will pay you to fight because they know that fans will come to see you.
