How do we get Yahoo to add an MMA focus catagory?

by MasterBlaster on April 3, 2010

Seriously, Yahoo! I hate having to weed through all of the non MMA questions to find good discussion/inquiries on MMA topics.

MMA and traditional martial arts do not belong in the same category.

A better question would be how to get someone to submit his questions directly to Yahoo instead of ranting in the forum.
Secondly, other than a different training methodology MMA fighting consists of training in various “traditional” fighting arts so the distinction is really in your mind. Thirdly, there are plenty of MMA discussion sites out there if you ever bothered to look.

this is a good question. i want the same thing, mma should be considered its own art, whether or not its mixed, it usually refers to martial arts competitions, not just martial arts.
you should find out how to contact yahoo, cause an mma focus catagory is a great idea.

This is a question that has been asked A LOT. Quite frankly I used to agree but a couple of thing that should be taken in to consideration. Do you think it will actually change any thing. Most of the MMA questions are from MMA fanboys will wind up here any ways, either to piss people off or because they do not know the difference. This is also a very very slow moving section. They say that in P&S questions can get asked up to 109 per minute. I can stay off of here for three days and go back to the question I left off with rather easy just going through the pages. How slow do you think it would be with out the MMA questions. YA YA I know quality over quantity. But if this section does not have enough quantity it does not make Y!A any money and thus gets deleted.

Also I would like you to read all of Judomofo’s answer on this subject

I am going to give you some other links here in a second showing that Y!A has no intent of doing this

Edit: I got your question some what backwards. I stillstand by what I said though

and what groups would you want.
there is about 3 tradional questions per page.
about 10 mma fan asking who will beat who or which still is better
then you have how do i beat this guy up

if anything most of the questions come from mma fans.

in general the martial arts catagory is the smallest in ya to begin with.

MMA is not even a Martial Art. So it doesn’t belong in the Martial Arts section. You are right.

MMA is highly commercialized garbage with too many rules.

Real Martial arts don’t have rules.

Good Luck with that. This topic has come up often. Y/A can’t even find the time to fix what they have now. For instance the top ten members answers for the martial arts section has not been updated in I’m told over two years. Many Y/A members have asked them to split the martial arts section. No reply from them.

Here is part of the problem. Many of the Y/A members use the free email account. It simply means that they are paying nothing for email or for using Y/A. At the same time Yahoo must pay its employees to fix everything that needs to be fixed. I’ll bet that they have a small number of overworked employees, just like most other companies. Bottom line is they are going to fix the big problems and get to the smaller issues if they have time. Obviously they don’t have time to make these changes.

this is the sports-martial arts category. some people will not accept that. yahoo has an mma sports section. this is it. traditional questions should not appear on this board. you can report them but that is like throwing water on a gremlin. they multiply and return with a vengeance. try sherdog.com.

i wish you the best of luck trying to get this accomplished.
defense of justice there is no need to insult them,
we may not all like mma but we do not have to sink down a few levels and insult them.
