well first i would start training some martial arts such as muay thai or bjj(brazilian jui jitsu.these r some of the more effective martial arts.after u have trained for 4 to 5 years find a fight promoter and tell them about yourself and that u would like to fight for them.this will get u into mma.this reqiures alot of hard work.and dont be discouraged if u lose.mma is not easy and u will get hurt.mma doesnt make a good career unless u mak it into the ufc.if u want to be good u need to devote urself to mma.this cant be a hobby it has to be ur life.

One usually gets started in MMA fighting by taking some kind of martial-art for several years and then branching out into other martial-arts styles. There are MMA schools around these days that train everything (striking, grappling, etc.) all at once, but the most successful fighters these days are still world-class in one martial art and very, very good in the rest.

The time needed for you to train and the time needed before your 1st fight would depend on you; how fast you learn new technique, how athletic you are, etc.

If your still in school and your school has a wrestling team, join up. It’s free! It’ll also prepare you for other MMA training, dieting, etc.. And you can train in other martial arts in the off-season.
