How would a mma fighter do in a REAL no rules fighting contest?

by MasterBlaster on May 26, 2010

What if a mma fighter entered a REAL no rules fighting tournament. Where absolutely anything goes (outside of multiple opponets and weapons anything else is fair game). Spinal locks, eye gouges, biting, breaking fingers, breaking kneecaps, ripping things…total anything goes.
P.S. I read in real no rules tournaments a lot of them end quickly and usually by an eye gouge.
What is your opinions?

I have friends that are involved in MMA, and in any of the street fights they’ve been in they did extremely better than their inexperienced opponents. I myself have trained in boxing and it’s given me an advantage in street fights as well.

MMA fighters would dominate…..I’m talking real MMA fighters not fags that punch a bag at the gym and watch UFC and try to pick fights with smaller dudes outside the bar after the UFC and wear their gay affliction t shirts everywhere…yeah….they’d get rolled. I’m pretty sure a dude like BJ Penn or GSP would fucking break fingers ribs and legs if you let them loose on a street fighter

BL May 26, 2010 at 20:55

They would be awesome. They are the only fighters in the world that are consistently fighting as close to “no rules fighting” than anyone else. A top boxer would have no chance against a top MMA.

MadKaelsDad May 26, 2010 at 21:36

They would have a better chance than most just do to their extreme endurance and agility due to rigorous workouts. However in a fight that you describe anything can happen at anytime so it’s always anybodies fight.

Definitely better than people who “believe” they are bad dudes. MMA fighters are very good at modifying their game for various situations and if they were to enter an event like you describe you had better believe they would be very well trained for it.

The reality of it though is that any MMA fighter who is worth their weight would never bother with an event like that because of the risks. Why waste your talent in some stupid brawl when you can fight professionally and feed your family if you are any good at it?

I also think it would depend on that fighters training. If they had REAL experience and ability in a REAL martial art for many years then you better believe they had learned the same tactics you are describing as well.

BTW – there are no “real tournaments” like you described…and if there are prove it and post links and info.

The fight will end up in 15 seconds

“P.S. I read in real no rules tournaments a lot of them end quickly and usually by an eye gouge.”

I’d be currious to know where you read that, especially since it’s been documented that in old-school catch wrestling, guys got their eyes gouged multiple times in a match sometimes. Getting your eye gouged doesn’t automatically mean it falls out. Most people instinctively blink and turn away, then continue fighting. Yuki Nakai, in Vale Tudo Japan, was eye-gouged by Gerard Gordeau… shortly before he submitted him with a leg lock. Funny thing, that.

Incidentally, spinal locks and “breaking kneecaps” (stomp kicks to the knee) are allowed under modern rules. Breaking fingers and “ripping things” were allowed under old-school rules, but I can’t recall ever seeing it actually done. Apparently, actually knocking someone out or choking them unconcious was preferable to giving them a boo-boo. Even in ancient Pankration, breaking the fingers was just a prelude to something else, not a fight-ender.

Considering that most MMA fighters are competent at most areas of unarmed combat*, and usually excel in one or two areas, in addition to being in tremendous shape, I think they’d do exceedingly well. You take a top guy like Fedor Emelianenko or Georges St-Pierre, who train with and compete against world-class fighters in multiple disciplines, then tell him that he’s no longer restricted by the rules he’d normally compete under, and it’s frightening to imagine what kind of damage they could do to another human being. Check out the kind of damage Anderson Silva can do from the clinch, or that GSP or Fedor can do with their ground-and-pound; that’s plenty brutal even WITH rules.

*These areas include free striking, clinch striking, striking defense, shoot takedowns, takedown defense, clinch grappling, ground grappling, ground striking, submissions, submission defense, and so on.

I imagine MMA guys would do quite well.

Mrs.Fine May 27, 2010 at 00:11

I’m a “real” MMA fighter, and I know I’ve done pretty well in street fights with no rules.

jrod1229 May 27, 2010 at 00:17

a true mma fighter, who is a professional would dominate in a street fight, they are trained fighters, they know how to take a hit, they know how to fight where ever the fight goes, standing to the ground. they are the best conditioned athletes in the world, much stronger than the average joe. It’s not even a question

thezombie May 27, 2010 at 01:12

If it is purely ANYTHING, the MMA fighter would still have an equal or slightly greater chance of winning. They are highly skilled at many different forms of martial arts and forms of self defense.

There are numerous fighters in the UFC that have participated in no rules fighting called Vale Tudo (Shogun Rua, Wanderlei Silva, Renzo & Royce Gracie, etc)

I’d say the best MMA fighter is one that has karate in their arsenal and use that to disarm an armed opponent.

However, no fighter stands a chance against a gunmen.

goosteps May 27, 2010 at 01:28

mma fighter would win…a street fight is less promising than one with gloves that accually shows skill but the expirience he would have would be more than an advantage

Bigfoot's Army May 27, 2010 at 02:23

Could you imagine rampage?

daleschmalz May 27, 2010 at 03:00

i think that a mma fighter has a good chance but only if it is one on one

Iceman May 27, 2010 at 03:53

thats bitch shit an mma fighter might go to the ground and what the fuck he gets bit, or eye gouged

Woodrow May 27, 2010 at 04:15

krav maga

personally, i would get on top of the guy so he couldn’t gouge me, and then choke them out. nice and simple, and no unnecessary agony.

gr May 27, 2010 at 04:34

mma fighters would quickly adjust to it. early ufc fights allowed hits to the groin which is btw the quickest way to end a street fight( with no weapons) eye gouging is extremely hard to execute ( small target. and located in the head which is always the object of defense) un;less you are fighting a drunk or something. so to answer your question, trained MMA fighters will have an upper hand to a regular joe blow.

BobJr's Final return May 27, 2010 at 05:30

first off you said real mma fighter meaning? I will assume you mean professional. look at it this way a professional football team playing just some street football team and they would dominate them. They are experience fighters trained, if they did try gouge their eyes chances are they would quickly react faster before they did it or take the pain a little and then kick their arses. Not saying Professional always come on top but inexperienced fighters wouldn’t have a chance and those that do do the gay eye gouges to win a fight isn’t a fighter in my book.

Tai May 27, 2010 at 06:18

Most of them would do well but some will be completely hopeless, some of the fighters are only safe in a cage with a referee and rules.

jko6193 May 27, 2010 at 07:05

i would say pretty well because we are restrained in competion we can unleash the beast on the unfortunate person that decides he wants to be a punk and prove how tough he is get fucked up

Ah Derrrrrrrrrrrrrr May 27, 2010 at 07:32

They’ll definitely have an advantage. When a person trains in the art of combat/fighting 24/7, he’ll definitely have an edge over someone who doesn’t. Obviously, in a REAL fight, these MMA fighters aren’t going to be as “technical” as in a MMA rules match. You’ll probably see a few submission and take-down attempts when the opportunities arise.

Let’s put it this way, just the fact that these guys are constantly in the gym working out, sparring, and drilling their craft consistently gives them a big advantage over anybody who isn’t doing the same thing. It’s just commonsense.

Jim W May 27, 2010 at 07:40

this is a real stupid question… mma is the closest form of real fighting you can get

if you watch to see how they do with no rules go watch vale tudo events like “rio heros”

also idk where you read that in “no rules tournaments” lot of fights would end in eye gouges”, but that sounds like a bunch of shit

watch the first few ufc tournaments that is what REAL fighting was all about.

? May 27, 2010 at 07:46

ask your self this simple question, would you rather be eye gouged by some nobody or by Fedor? would you rather be kicked in the crotch by some nobody or by Mirco Cro Cop?
also, is “an eye gouge” realistically gonna stop someone full out?
how many times does a street fight end in and eye poke and the guy falls out cold? sure you can gouge an eye and run away for safety but not in a cage. PLUS you say ANYTHING goes so is poking a steroid junkie in the eye who just popped like 6 Vicodin before the fight, gonna stop him? i think your gonna have to END it, like choke him out or KO him.
