just keep where you are at and turn that fat into more muscles
When are you fighting? It will take you months to get down to 140.
You’ll need to lose at least 20 lbs of fat to get to 155. Even then, the cut to 140 would be tough.
I say you start eating better (more fruits and veggies, no sugar, less fat and less food overall) keep working out and fight at whatever weight you are at. Go to a library and get a book on healthy eating for sports and weight loss, and you’ll get a more complete answer than you will on here.
As you start to lose the weight, you can determine when you feel good enough to fight. Start now, and you can be in super shape at 140 by next summer if that’s what your frame needs. You may not be able to get below 155…just get started on the weight loss and see what your body needs.
just run for 2 weeks and you will see results guarantee it
push ups and sit ups also
Yes, it is asking too much. 155 is the lowest you should go.
It would be hard for any fighter to cut 35 pounds regardless of size and % body fat. I would recomend going to 155 rather than 140 and I thionk its 145 not 140 for featherweight. once you get down to 155 you can make the decision to stay there or to cut some weight and fight at 145 or even lower depending on where you are fighting.
I started at 190lbs. When i finally got into shape (and I wasn’t in bad in the 1st place) I got down to 160lb. and I have no problem maintaining my weight. I don’t like to try to lose weight before a fight. If your 175lbs, you might want to fight at 160lb. You don’t want to kill yourself before a fight.
Depends on how much time you have to diet. Without the date that your fight is, it’s hard to give you an answer.. Cutting weight has to be precise so you can reach your physical peak while cutting weight without completely draining yourself of energy. Talk to your coach if you have one or repost the question with more info like the date of the fight, your diet, your workouts, stuff like that.
155lbs is perfect for you. lose 10 bls of fat, then cut to 155.
Blow the fat off, and then assess where you are.
Wow, that’s a lot of weight to lose. Most guys at that size fight at 155lbs. Actually, the next weight class below that is 145lbs, so cutting to 140lbs shouldn’t even be an issue. In the US, that’s a catch weight.
At any rate, depending on your build, you might be able to make 145lbs if you did a slow cut over a period of a couple of months. Trying to cut 35lbs or so in a week or less would probably send you to a hospital.
As in all things, when you’re thinking about preparing for a fight: ask your coach. They’re there for a reason.
I just started reading your site – thanks for writing. I wanted to inform you that it’s not displaying correctly on the BlackBerry Browser (I have a Blackberry 9700). Anyway, I am now subscribed to the RSS feed on my PC, so thanks again!
