(this is whats goin on rite now, if you actually care and want to help read this, if not, read the last paragraph)

i turned 16 n august n im training how2 become a proffessional fighter with my older brother (22) jimmy, well hes just a great fighter and pushs me when we spar, i also have a punching bag and i learned all the right techniques now im working on deading nerves in my knuckles and shin n stuff, i just moved2 the east side of el paso but the north east is what made me move, entire gangs were trying to jump ME im 5’9 n 115 pounds plus im white so they were just being dumb, its mainly because 2 of my brothers walked out n so did my best friend but n e ways thats what made me really start working out so i can actually BE better than them not just think i am, some other dude in a gang over at my new school tried calling me white boy n punking me n front of every1 than noticed im not running away n hes like alright after school white boy!! than he ran up behind me after school and pushed me n front of everyone and said U GOT SUMTHIN2 TO SAY WHITE BOY!! n i just stuck him n tha jaw n he stumbled than threw a gay lil punch at me n i dodged it n rocked him again (he lost a tooth n his nose is broken) n every1 n tha entire school is terrified of this kid n hes nothing at all so…im not trying2 sound cool but i know i can fight good compared2 kids my age i jus got bak from the vitamin shop with N.O.XPLODE or sumthin (its a pre-workout supplement thing UFC fighters use) and im going to work out like crazy from now on seeing as how i only weigh 120 now (i run ALOT to btw) i like2 smoke weed tho…i usually smoke alll day but now that i moved with my step parents i dnt rlly hav2 im happy here i have great food, drinks, clothes everything i need at my old house i didnt. My step parents thnk i work out2 much as it is, but thats just stupid i have2 many muscles in my body2 workout in 1-2 days even if i did it all day but anyways….i thnk i dont work hard enough…lyoto machida has been training since he was 3…that shows me i alrdy screwed up by starting at 16 thats why i want to take it to another level because how late i am i actually do wanna be tha best and if i have to start working now thats fine, but theres so much other stuff like reading…i HATE reading but i know i hav2 in order to get threw college

My question is, should working out be my main focus even over school?? should i workout litterally as much as possible?
Or should i focus on school, reading, boring crap like that along with exercising?? like whats more important? either way imma do both but which is more realistic? can i really be an MMA fighter? or should i settle with being a normal old college student? please help…this is my life im talking about here i need as much help as possible

In my humble opinion, you need to concentrate on school work. The reason is this: the professional fighter’s career expectancy is just about the same as the professional ballet dancer’s. You can do it until your body gives out, provided you are lucky enough to be able to make a living doing it. Then, if you are still fit enough, you can teach it to other people.

If you don’t have any education, you don’t have any options. You are either a champ or a bum. It’s a very competitive world out there, even if you get a good education. There is less every year available to those without one.

I’m glad you are brave and can give as good as you get, but you are a really skinny guy. Do you have other sports such as baseball that you can do well? I am asking because you seem dedicated, and you may be able to get a scholarship to college if you combine schoolwork and success in a sport. It can even be track & field.

My brother was also a tall skinny guy in high school, same build as you. His sport was wrestling. He was really good. He wrestled in the 100-lb class (had to stop eating basically before a match to make weight). If someone wanted to pick on him, he would challenge them to meet him on the wrestling mat! He wasn’t a great student either, but he kept up with the work and went to college.

You have a few more years to grow and develop. Keep working out, but keep studying too.
