Is anyone else noticing the sad direction that MMA is going?

we have all these different sanctioned organizations, pride, ufc, wfa, cagerage, strikeforce. How are we ever going to have a unified belt an undisputed champion? how are we going to know who is the best?
anderson silva was only 3wins 2 losses in pride and never a championship contender, liddel is the man ,but also took a lose to maybe prides 5 best lightheavyweight. so lets not get into which organization is better because most likely fedor could beat up chuck and silva at the same time
the point is the best of the best arent fighting right now

What do you suggest? Sounds like you want less organizations, I think that’s the wrong thing to do, but I do believe it would be good if fighters didn’t have to sign an exclusive contracts with a single organization instead he was free to fight in all of them, then you’d have a unified champion.

The title of the absolute best hand to hand combatant in the world is something that changes from split second to spit second. Thats why I dont believe in a champion that believes he is the best, simply because this is crystallization of something that is constantly changing. Its almost like a childrens game, actually…
However, I think that Chuck Liddel, and Anderson Silva are highly trained hand to hand combatants as well as some of the people in pride.

who cares who is the best in a ring?true martial artists wouldn’t be in there in the first place.any idiot can fight. fighting and self defence have nothing in common whatsoever.martial arts is a lifestyle it’s about doing what you have to do when you have to do it,its not about getting in a ring (where there are rules) to gain prestige or money or whatever. if they want to have this mma/pride/ufc etc.etc dont associate it with martial arts or any style.theres to many so called martial artists, instructors,so called styles etc. who have lost the way its about time they were gotten rid of.if you want money get of your arse and earn it dont use martial arts to get it.noone cares whos best!!!!!

We never are, just as there is no unified kickboxing champion or boxing champion. We’ll just have to take our best guesses. Not that we would if they did have a unified champion as the power of the knockout or flash submission can have even the greatest champion defeated by a Wes Sims type. Not likely, but possible.

i hear where you’re coming from and until we have a nationally sanctioned organization like the nba (national boxing association) or such, it’s going to be an up hill battle to truely know who is the best in the nation/world/universe/etc..

It will happen soon, other fighters will be able to make special appearances in any organization, mainly to the UFC. Wanderlei Silva was supposed to fight Chuck, but i think the UFC wanted the rematch between Tito and Chuck first. Hopefully the winner will get to fight Wanderlei, because i read in MMAweekly.com that Silva is scheduled to fight in February, but the other fighter was not announced yet. Also, Crocop might be able to fight Fedor in December, if not, Josh Barnett will fight Fedor. If Tim Sylvia beats Monson, Maybe he’ll call out Fedor.
