Is boxing good for self defense? Is it hard to learn for someone with no fighting experience?

I am interested in learning boxing for self defense. Does anyone know if it is effective, and hard to learn? How do I find out more?

Boxing is good for self defense its effective because it shows you how to punch how footwork affects your punching power and speed. If its hard to learn depends on how much effort you put into it.
