Is there a place for mixed MMA & Boxing events?

by MasterBlaster on March 17, 2010

After the recent Roy Jones promoted ‘March Badness’ which showcased both combat sports does anyone think that this is an idea that’s going places? Did anyone see it? Did it work?

I think boxing can certainly learn something from how MMA events present themselves but I’m not convinced they need to cohabit.

You know, I enjoy watching both, but at this point I don’t think they share enough of a common audience to make dual events practical. In fact they may never share a common audience. Part of me would love for all the combat sports/martial arts to get along, but I just don’t see it happening.

Yep. Just like there’s a place for mixed ice hockey/American football events.

I’m sorry, but they are two completely different sports.

I’ve attended hybrid events LIVE in attendance and there is a place for them. Period. Anyone who believes otherwise should go to one of the Fernando Vargas-promoted cards in Primm, Nevada. SEE source.
