Froch is brave and physically strong but he isnt a great boxer Dirrel won by at least 2 rounds and though Taylor was sparked out in the last round before that he was well ahead in that fight froch has trouble against anyone who is fast and skillful at this level if kessler goes in with a plan of hitting and movieng fast he can win if he gets into a brawl like he did with JC he will surely lose JC isnt the hardest hitter around so kessler took those blows but froch is another story completely.

i dnt think ward cdve beaten joe. joe was a great fighter and w/ward that is still TBD! i thght it was a very good win 4 ward but i truely think kessler lost smthng in the calzaghe fight. not so much physically cuz he is only 30 but when he fought joe he really was beaten handily n mentally i dnt think he’s ever recovered from that loss. i dnt think a fighter become less of a fighter cuz he losses, but as boxing fans we all no that sometimes a guy losses and he’s never the same (JC vs lacey)

jmgnyg December 23, 2009 at 17:16

i think ward has a great chance 2 win the super 6. he’s a terrific boxer w/good speed.

jmgnyg December 23, 2009 at 18:02

this will be a really good fight. i think kessler is the bttr technical boxer n it should be enough 2 carry him 2 a close decision (not 2 mention he’ll b fightin in front of his home fans) but froch is strong! not jus physically but mentally, that jus mte b more important when the fight is close n comin down the stretch. froch can be outboxed (i thght dirrell cdve got that decision) but u gtta be ready for 12 rds cuz froch aint gnna b easy, this fights a toss-up. id say kessler by very close UD

I hate the claim that being beaten lessens a fighter it sometimes does BUT its not a broad brush to paint all fighters imo. Kessler is relatively young and strong and is a good boxer he wasnt wrecked by the JC fight he lost yes but went on to fight and win at least two fights afterwards before he met Ward. Maybe it was just that Kessler wasnt a world level fighter at all in the end in the end and met a opponant in ward who was a level above him just as he did in JC.

46 fights, 46 wins, 32 kos, 11 years as Champ. I don’t care where you come from, that deserves some respect.

I think Ward is great, fantastic American fighter with lots of potential. I’m interested to see the outcome of Kess – Froch.

Dilupist1 December 23, 2009 at 19:27

I’ll have alot to disagree with this, but once Kessler was beaten by Joe I think it wrecked his confiedence, especially when owning 2 belts and having them taken away from you. Calzaghe was just too smart and ran away with the fight from the 5th. Joe’s an old fox, drained to the max fighting Kessler at this weight, so gaunt lookin, but he’s old’school and always got the job done in the ring when it counted, and adapted constantly. Ever guess I was a Calzaghe fan?! Peace :-)

The old “one boxer losing to another then again beating another boxer that has beaten the fighter who beat him so is better” is odd though Calzaghe often states Kessler was his toughest opponant but Andre Ward took him apart when kessler should have been in his complete prime as a fighter (he is 30) could then ward have handeled JC?.

i respect ur opinion. as far as bhop fightin lesser competition lately, he was on friday night fights this past friday n said that he plans 2 clean out the lghthvywght division after his fight w/rjj. hopkins said he does plan on fightin chad dawson down the line, if bhop wins that than calzaghe’s win over bhop looks that much bttr. unfortunately w’ll never no what wd’ve happ if roy had fought joe a few yrs earlier. bhop/rjj were alil older no doubt! but joe wasnt exactly a spring chicken either

damieandark December 23, 2009 at 20:50

Ill always give JC his due but imo most people are starting to see a padded resume and a fighter who never truly tested himself against the very best like Hatton attempted to do. RJJ is a shell of a fighter humiliated recently and walking into another hiding when he faces BHOP again (baring a knockout punch from RJJ) but he is still and will always be more respected in the fight game by his peers for his achievments.

damieandark December 23, 2009 at 20:54

his BHOPs remarkable continuation in the sport is more based on him being a very wiley fighter(taking breaks by holding and sometimes playacting),fighting very rarely and when he does fighting pretty poor or tailor made to his style opposition he has avoided anyone truly dangerous for quite a few years now and he still took JC to the edge in a slightly controvertial SD.

damieandark December 23, 2009 at 21:42

I think a prime Jones would have destroyed JC in 6 the early knockdown would have been capatilised on for an early night. BHOP was THE LH champ i agree but like RJ a younger (physically) BHOP would have taken it by the scruff after the early knockdoen.

i have 2 admit roy had seen bttr days but based on styles i think joe beats him whenever (jus my opinion) that clearly faded hopkins as u call him was “THE” lghthvywght champion when he fought calzaghe or did u 4get? and by the way after calzaghe beat hopkins, hopkins turned around n schooled pavlik! so let’s jus give calzaghe his due! he was a great fighter. 21 defenses at sprmddlwght and undisputed lghthvywght champ! only a great fighter cdve accomplished that.

jmgnyg December 23, 2009 at 23:23

forget 5 years younger! he’d still win the super 6! he’s a better boxer than any of the guys in the 6. not to mention he already schooled kessler, he’d jus beat him again so there would already be an automatic win.

damieandark December 24, 2009 at 00:15

it was a dubious win against hopkins (many commentators english ones say hopkins won) a win is a win in boxing but Calzaghe should have given a rematch. Lacey was overated,Eubank was past it and the others are nobodys on a world level.

Nobody denies calzaghes skill BUT his 10 years in europe against lesser fighters then fighting a clearly faded but still wiley hopkins and an utter wreck in Jones isnt the mark of a great fighter to compare him to true greats like lewis, leonard, and co is crazy

welshtoon86 December 24, 2009 at 00:42

Even though he does have a “padded” record for me he is up there with the greats, not only did he beat Hopkins (who schooled Pavlik), Lacey (finished him), Kessler, Eubank. He also beat Sheikha, Mitchell, Brewer and Woodhall who aint no mugs. For me if Joe was 5 years younger he would have won the Super 6!

madscanman1 December 24, 2009 at 01:05

old as him ! he s 37 , look at the bum fight thats comming up b flop and roy old senior , for god sake .. put holyfield and you have dads army , they are all past it , joe is undefeated simple and retired . its know wonder they adopt fighters these days , khan for one he needs em ped in his jaw , 2 faced , he did not get peace in the uk so f d to usa ,, i right , jc and b hop was 15 rounds time big heed took 2 x5 mins brakes as joe was all over him cheat , b,h v r,j +bus pass bash 65and out
