MMA meets Kung-Fu

by MasterBlaster on June 1, 2010

mma fighting meets Kung-Fu Fighting. *please note* This video was shot on my vacation in china of may 2008. The man i’m “grappling” with, is not a monk but a kung fu master with over 20 years of shaolin kung-fu, Wushu,Sanshou or Sanda what ever you want to call it. *Please also note* we are not fighting in this video but just having a grappling match.

its interesting with the grappling i mean 20 years of kungfu=0 years of ground game. At the same time if you don’t get him down, there could be issues and that 20 years of kungfu will hurt.

@MuayThaiViking
Go back to your makebelief MMA tournaments jackass. Thinking you’re a viking. What a sad joke you are.

MuayThaiViking June 1, 2010 at 20:38

@limbride u can keep barfing, the last 5 comments from you have contained so much bullshit, flaming and thoughtless ”facts” that i cant see a reason to even bother anymore.. have fun on your deadly norwegian streets that have transformed you into a deadly killingmachine O_o

MuayThaiViking June 1, 2010 at 20:42

@limbride again you show complete lack of knowledge about martial arts you try to be clever about, before it was MMA now wing chun. you are the one overlooking the important parts of the discussion, and the reason why i even replied to u in the first place

according to you, MMA is useless in self defense against more than 1 attacker, because its dangerous to roll around on the ground. if you think MMA = groundfighting, then it says more about you, than about MMA

limbride June 1, 2010 at 20:53

@MuayThaiViking
Ever heard of overstatements and hyperbole?
Nice try putting words in my mouth and overlooking the most important aspects of what I say is my background: hand to hand combat with and without weapons in every style efficient.
Wing chun is very popular in women self defence classes i hear. I’m sure you use it all the time in all the MMA tourneys you fight in. Unlike you i don’t need to make up a history of martial arts training. My proficiency is good as it is.

MuayThaiViking June 1, 2010 at 21:12

@limbride ”I don’t have MMA or Kung-fu experience” i rest my case.. ive had experience with both (MMA and wing chun) and several fights in MT.. why bother discussing this with an untrained youtube-king?

oh im sorry, forgot you had experience with the deadly streets for Norway.. my god!

the whole discussion started with you saying that MMA sucks vs several attackers because groundfighting aint good for that. u have clearly misunderstood something if you think thats all in MMA

limbride June 1, 2010 at 21:45

@MuayThaiViking
I used a hyperbole to underline that the video is old. Not my fault you’re so stupid to take it literally. I never said he should join the UFC. I said he’s scared shitless of Brock Lesnar and some of the others that are in UFC because he’s been invited to fight them many times and always says no.
“im not saying fedor could beat up 4 guys who all weighs 110kg, and who has trained martil arts” – Then what are you saying? What is the “average attacker” as you call it?

MuayThaiViking June 1, 2010 at 21:51

@limbride wow your comment has many flaws! first, the video isnt nearly 22 years old. dont know where you got your ”facts”

Fedor gets paid more than any UFC fighter, why would he join UFC? this subject alone can be discussed forever, but saying fedor is scared is just childish.

im not saying fedor could beat up 4 guys who all weighs 110kg, and who has trained martil arts (”if they knew how to throw their weight around” as u say). this is not the average attacker, far from in fact

limbride June 1, 2010 at 22:03

@MuayThaiViking
I have happened to see that video( it’s older than you) and those pencilneck punks he beats up have the muscle build of a 12y old girl. If he were up against 4 people his own size he would have gotten his ass kicked if they knew how to throw their weight around.
And you think Fedor wins because he has no fear? Do you think scared people would fight in the first place? eeeeh no. He’s scared shitless of Brock Lesnar and others in the old UFC afaik.

MuayThaiViking June 1, 2010 at 22:50

@limbride uuh now we are getting personal ;)

anyway ill feed the troll. fighting is a lot about psychology, for example, look at the video with Mike Vallely owning 4 punks. Mike is an untrained pro skater, but his lack of fear makes a big difference. Mix that with 110kg and world class technique like Fedor, and beating several attackers is not a big issue

and again, MMA fighters are not just ground fighters. fedor has owned K-1 fighters standing up, do your homework!!!

limbride June 1, 2010 at 23:14

@MuayThaiViking
Fedor is good on his feet but he really shines on the ground when he’s allowed to use his submission technique. And since pretty much every MMA fighter except Tank Abbot knows basic ground defence now, that is where most fights are decided. On the ground.
For your “y a guy like fedor could make several attackers look like beef pretty fast” I just have to say: Maybe several guys like you, but not several guys with fighting abilities above kindergarden level, no.

VisnuWorldsDestroyer June 2, 2010 at 00:08

Man u are a lil bit coward..

U know in a true fight, u just will die, and barely will lose with all your bones broken or kind of…

People Loves MMA cuz doenst know about honour,

If this friend of you, started to use his secret knowledge… u will be destroyed about 30 seconds or less.

MuayThaiViking June 2, 2010 at 00:45

@limbride since when is MMA all about rolling on the floor?
i dare to say a guy like fedor could make several attackers look like beef pretty fast

isukatlax June 2, 2010 at 01:00

that song is so groovy

Tgotti613 June 2, 2010 at 01:43

MechPhantom June 2, 2010 at 02:02

MechPhantom June 2, 2010 at 02:53

bi didnt say dat lol . Its the monk himself dat say before bodhidarma came,kung fu was fake and were at the mercy of bandits. After his arrival he taught them MA in this case should be kalari and then jung fu was inented, with its animal fighting styls. Monks dont lie u know
haha

MegaAnimeStation June 2, 2010 at 03:32

ot what i was expecting but good video

Kdaddy61987 June 2, 2010 at 04:20

If you look back the chinese and japanese had martial arts. All hes pointing out is that he taught them the style they still use today. yes the monks knew martial arts but they were far different in trainining and perspective. the reason why it was important time for the monks and after learning the animal styles of kung fu they were able to affectively protect people. The monks use to be a place for anyone who seeked a safe haven. Many chinese schools preach the beginning and understandment.

senmafugu June 2, 2010 at 04:51

correction… anyone with atleast 20 years of experience in the battlefield, could invent an effective fighting style, human weapon? love that series but bill was wrong. besides the chinese invented alot of things right? how hard is it for them to come up with kung fu?

MrPolskaDuma June 2, 2010 at 04:58

@MechPhantom Wrestling is probably the oldest martial art.

MechPhantom June 2, 2010 at 05:15

Yea but thx to the indians kung fu is now popular ^^

dedeen June 2, 2010 at 05:16

The original martial arts was Kalarippayat I believe, and Pankration.
Those then specialized into different martial arts, and then different schools.

drchango2010 June 2, 2010 at 06:15

I think it’s unfair to say it was not good, there was a lot of heavy duty shit from the Warring States period, but it did focus more on battlefield arts (weapons and grappling) rather than unarmed striking, though Bodhidharma did change the game, just like Yue Fei did six centuries later and Gee Sim five centuries after that.

MechPhantom June 2, 2010 at 06:22

lol ok haahahah . Btw before bodhidharma went to china , the kung fu there was not good. After he came he introduced training techniques to strength the monks there . So i guess u gotta give credits to the indians not the chinese ^^ . Btw watch human weapon for proof. bye
