He is not good looking, he doesn't have a good physique, and he comes across as very boring in his interviews. He was a superstar because he was a great fighter in his day and because he was friends with Dana White. Arlovski barely spoke English - not the most marketable, but I agree the UFC put a huge publicity campaign behind him. Sylvia was just a tall freak show. I guess that is marketable. Tito I think was the most marketable based on his charisma and personality, but he was the least successful of the fighters you listed! If Lindland is bitter about being dropped by the UFC, he should have taken steps to make himself more marketable. Chael Sonnen figured that out, and now he has a title shot due to his relentless trash-talking. Lindland and Sonnen come from the same camp - I guess Sonnen learned from Lindland's mistakes.
