I am purchasing an item and it says “new in box”, does that imply it is new but opened the moment? Or does it imply completely new? Thanks.

Depends on the seller. Most times it means that it has not been opened. Read the entire description it should tell you in there if it has been taken out of the box or not. And when all else fails, ask the person who is selling it – if it’s new and unopened or new and opened.
usually it means new and in the box… so unopened. but if you are unsure and whether it is opened or not effects value then you should ask the seller.
It means that it’s brand new and still in its original container.
It should be a brand new product in it’s original package. Never used but could be open. Better if it’s not open tho.
