At the height of its power and popularity, the Ultimate Fighting Championship today lost the man many recognize as the face of mixed martial arts. UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture announced his resignation from the Las Vegas-based promotion, leaving two contracted fights, his job as an on-air analyst and his heavyweight crown on the table.
In South Africa shooting scenes for his lead role in the upcoming feature film The Scorpion King Rise of the Akkadian, Couture made the announcement official in a letter to UFC president Dana White. The UFCs inability to land PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko played a prominent role in the decision to walk away, according to Couture.

If this is true then it is very bad news because Tito will be the next to leave. Tito is upset about the decision in the Hamil/Bysping fight. Tito has already dropped out of his next fight against Rashaad Evans
Yeah, If this is true then its a huge loss to the UFC. But honestly do you blame him?
A- TheNatural isnt getting any younger, even though he will a bada*s at age 90
B-There is a reason why the Rock left WWE. Hollywood=Money , and doesnt =getting pummeled in a cage

C-Hes the champ and they arent giving him what he wants. What more reason does he need not to leave…but still…….I would have loved for him to fight Rampage Jackson!

This is in fact true.
It’s a black eye for UFC, but not going to amount to all that much. After all, it wasn’t much of a secret that he was only hanging around long enough to fight Emelianenko, then was going to retire anyway.
The UFC didn’t give a rat’s behind about him anyway, since they weren’t paying him anywhere near what other fighters were getting, even though he was the heavyweight champ and the only guy to win titles in 2 UFC weight divisions.
