It would have been a lot more difficult for him also if Nogueira had managed to pull guard those times he wanted to. Game plans don’t always happen the way we plan though :p Clinching against the fence would have changed the direction of the fight though. Nobody really has an answer for getting off the fence when he blankets them.

thats randys game is the clinch fight would of been alot closer if he had done his clinch work.

Yeah i agree with you on that one. Dana does seem to be trying to shut down strikeforces options, even signing Known Fighters which are a Bit passed there prime just so that strikeforce cant use them. Couture would be a Massive PPV Draw and it would be a Major Slap in the face for the UFC.
Dana seems to be playing it Safe, but if couture cant hack it theres a risk he will turn into a pride esk side show “look at the old guy”.
Butt i remains to be seen, i wish him the best of luck any way.

I agree somewhat,6 fights is a bit of a stretch.
I think that has alot to do with the fact that DANA is at WAR with STRIKEFORCE.
It’s DANAs way of preventing a FEDOR vs.COUTURE match-up,which would be a HUGE PPV. draw for STRIKEFORCE,if COUTURE eventually signed with them.
Now COUTURE will end his career in the UFC for-sure.

Couture chose bad strategy. He brawled with a guy who had a great chin, big reach advantage and pretty good hand speed and combos. Even Fedor didn’t want to stay in the pocket with Nog. Fedor stick and moved. Although such tactic would be hard to implement by Couture. He’d need great explosiveness and gas tank for that.

No, but he is Starting to age on a bit. A 6 fight contract for a Guy whos 46 years old is a bit of a Streach.
In my Opinion i He should have Retired after this fight, It was a Great fight and he looked real good, he could then go out and end his career on a High. He had Great success as a heavy weight being a smaller faster guy, now hes droping down to a Division with a Load of great strikers that coupled with an ageing reaction time, i can kind of see it ending badly.

No body on this blog that says Randy is too old or he needs to retire will dare get into the ring with rim. The guy is an exceptional athlete. He works hard and he has proven time and time again that he can fight with the top fighters. No one will win every fight.
