Eh true, I just want to see a good stand-up with like the Shogun vs Lyoto fight. Anyways I should check out K-1 like you said, it’s a waste of talent if someone trains in, lets say, Kyokushin Karate for 10 years but never gets the opportunity to use his skill. Then again, going to the ground is his weakness. If it can happen in a ring, it can happen in the streets. :/
Because you can’t win by playing to your opponent’s strengths. Even if their “strengths” are flawed, if they’ve got less experience with the ground, then go there.
If you want to watch striking, watch K-1. If you want to watch MMA, watch MMA. MMA fighters aren’t going to play to their opponent’s strengths for your and other watchers’ entertainment; it isn’t the WWE.
If they feel they’ve got a better chance on the ground they’ll go there.
I know what you mean, but MMA fighters should be well rounded in everything, so why take the fight to the ground all the time? I am trying to argue or anything, I am just saying because almost every UFC fight I watch, both fighters are on the ground. I want to watch a fight, not a wrestling match. So I usually just watch Anderson Silva or Shogun Rua fight now.
the TKD dude doesnt seem to realize , he s in a MMA fight not a movie..which means to pick a fight with an opponent that almost twice ur size is bad for ur health..!
The TKD practitioner was foolish to even enter the ring. If he doesn’t know how to fight on the ground he shouldn’t have picked a fight with a GROUND fighter. We all know there isn’t any point in comparing styles. The FIGHTER couldn’t compare.
This kind of shit is what makes all the boxers, MMA fighters, and wrestlers think that they can fuck with TKD when in actuality it is a formidable weapon.
Actually, where I train, we learn
1. Traditional Taekwondo, which is forms and general understanding of the human body.
2. Practical use and self defense, which is everything from grappling to one hit K.Os.
3. Taekwondo Sport fighing, how you use it in a competition against another TKD fighter.
4. Other Martial Arts like Kick boxing, Thai boxing, Wing Chun (Chinese Kung Fu style), Tai Chi, etc. etc. etc.
Of course TKD is our “lifestyle”, but we learn to understand other martial arts aswell.

Plenty of “sprawl and brawl” guys in MMA, you just need to watch more.
Uh…what? Easy route? If their skills lie in groundfighting and not standup, then it’s just where they’re going to want to be.
Retard.

Lousy display of TKD.

Terrible.
UFC is a sport, MMA does not exist.
