@cambodianmilk Actually Mr. history buff, he didn’t defend his Tittle 7 times. He defended 4 consecutive times while on a 7 fight winning streak. Oh and the fighters he actually fought during that streak would hardly qualify as elite. Most of them were ONE DIMENSIONAL GRAPPLERS. No wonder liddell was knocking people left and right. Tito Ortiz, are you kidding me? Jeremy Horn? are you kidding me? Babalu Sobral Are you kidding me? Vernon White? and Couture. How’s that for elite competition?

the berry/cro cop fight was one of the best fights ive seen. cro cop was using berry’s head as a speed bag. but the franklin/liddell fight was good too. franklin got his arm broken and still knocked him out.
they need to bring back Big John back as the ref. he was a beast.

Yea Herb Dean the best ref ever.
These guys are not coming in with only one dimension, they have the striking and the grappling. Well-versed fighters with excellent cardiovascular endurance. Instead of just pretending like these smaller promotions don’t exist, Mr. White would do himself right by taking a cue from them. UFC 115 in my honest opinion was not up to par with the Sik Jitsu vs. NW Elite fight a few days ago in Spokane, WA. I am not hating on Dana or the UFC, but they need to step it up and take notice.
I can kind of see where Dana is coming from as far as his Strikeforce comments… but he needs to realize that a lot of those fighters that these more obscure companies have fighting for them, are the future of MMA. These guys are putting on some great shows even at a local level. I know Excitefight in my city has been putting on some outstanding shows with some of the greatest fighters I have ever seen.

I agree, that is the way the Iceman would want to go out. That fight was FUCKING AWESOME! It was all or nothing. Seems like that was Chuck’s mantra, which is what made his fights so great.
Ok we all know Strikeforce will never be as big as UFC. UFC is like the WWE of MMA and Strikeforce is like the TNA of MMA. Strikeforce is good and has great talent, but will never be able to compete with UFC. (ignore wrestling connections if you don’t watch wrestling). But there is no way Strikeforce is minor league. They have some big names there and yes losing Jake Shields does hurt, but they still have guys like Fedor and all that so ya…

@dohertyz Because Randy is a smart fighter, a gameplan fighter more than happy to get the W via decision. smart fighters have longer careers. Chuck can still have a career fighting the way he does, in the same way tank abbott still has a career(fighting for almost nothing in mma farm leagues), or he can stop fighting and stay on the UFC payroll doing tv spots and public apperances.
