UFC will show another upcoming mixed martial arts event this Saturday, April 10, 2010 held at Concert… Arena, Ferrari World, Yas Island Abu Dhabi, UAE. The UFC 112 Invincible Live which is said to be the Silva vs Maia fight and Penn vs Edgar as the headliner.
Silva hasn’t had much trouble during his reign as middleweight champion. The closest he came to danger was at UFC 67 against Travis Lutter. Although Lutter came in and missed weight, changing the bout to a non-title affair, he was able to take Silva to the ground, work his world-class jiu-jitsu, mount him and almost pound him out. Silva, being the champion that he is, worked his way out and eventually choked Lutter out in the 2nd round for the victory.
Maia, like Lutter, is a ground wizard and one of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners in the UFC. Some believe with that in mind, Maia becomes a legitimate threat to dethrone Silva. The task sounds simple; however the execution is far more difficult than it sounds.
Silva is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and trains with some of the world’s best, including Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and his brother Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at Team Black House. Needless to mention, Silva can end any fight with a submission as well.
