What boxing equipment would be good for me?

by MasterBlaster on January 25, 2010

Im 16, 6′ tall, 173lbs.
I am pretty strong, I do bodybuilding and I wan’t to use a punching bag to improve my strength, speed, and impact.

How many lbs do I need? 80lbs?

What kind fo gloves do I need? the big padded ones or the smaller ones?

What kind fo drills do I do on a punching bag?

Is that all I need?
Thanks.

Get some 16 or 20 oz. gloves. Their heavier than what you’ll probably fight with.

You can get as low as a 35 lb. bag but i would recommend a large bag.

GET WRIST WRAPS!!!! Cant stress that enough.

Also get some head gear and a sparring partner, it doesn’t do any good to throw a good punch if you cant take one.

Do some neck exercises every day, that’ll spread the shock to your neck and shoulders when you get hit.

Other than that, look on the internet for local boxing classes, the more training you have, the better you’ll get.
Good luck.
