There are more and more schools that are offering MMA specific training. These schools combine both stand up and groundwork.
If you’re asking about a “physical fitness” program that’s a little different.
you need to build the muscles you’ll use when you fight and your cardio respiratory system. Lifting weights aren’t enough, running isn’t enough. You’ll have to vary your training to support your developing skills.
cardio, cardio , cardio. The first thing is being in better shape then the other guy.
ah your best bet is to get in toa maa shcool they will put you trough condisning that will help you alot thigns 6that focus on muscles needed for the fights
Something that gives you a variety of styles. Boxing, Muay Thai, either Brazilian Jiujitsu or Submission Grappling (I think its basically BJJ without a Gi). And of course your going to need cardio. Lots of cardio. Remember its no longer a style vs a style. Nowadays its a fighter vs a fighter. No one style beats another nowadays. Because dudes are well rounded. You might have something you perfer over the other. But its good to know everything.
To compete in the MMA you need to have good offense, good defense, both standing up and on the ground.
You don’t need to know every submission ever invented, but you do need to practice avoiding submissions and how to relax and escape if and when you get caught.
Maybe consider training in a striking art such as Karate, Muay Thai, Kick-boxing etc. half the day. Then, train in a ground style such as jujitsu, wrestling, judo, etc for the second half.
I agree with the cardio work, but without skills all the cardio in the world is not going to do much good. Also with striking, you need to get hit, not just strike a bag that doesn’t bite back.
