What is the minimum time needed to prepare for your first MMA fight?

by MasterBlaster on April 14, 2010

I’m 22 years old and have decided to get into MMA. I want to get a fight as soon as possible to see what I’m made of, and was wondering what the minimum time training I need to have a chance. Also my natural weight is 163 and I think lightweight is 155. How much water weight can you safely loose? What is the best way to prepare and loose wight for a fight?

go to mma.tv . there is a great post about what you need to know to fight. basically you need to be able to train for an hour straight, then be able to spar for atleast 5 rounds without gassing.

Why is it people think they can up and one say I’m going to fight MMA? Dude, if you really want to fight MMA then take the time to train properly. If you think your just going to go in that cage all ghetto style and kick butt then it will be your butt thats handed to you. So ask yourself first if you want to be a winner or a loser. My guess is you want to be a winner. In which case go to an MMA gym for some proper instruction. Also work on your cardio, and build your strength up. At 163 you should be fighting at 155. With just your training and diet alone you should have no problem with making that weight. I doubt you’ll have to dehydrate yourself before a weigh in. I walk around between 193 & 195. I have never had to dehydrate myself to cut down to 185 to fight.
