What safety do I need to know about MMA sparring and boxing sparring? What equipment?

by MasterBlaster on March 7, 2010

My friend and I are done with football now and need to find something to keep us active and in fit. We are considering getting into sparring either MMA or boxing style. What are the basics and safety we need to know? Also, what kind of equipment and suggested brands or retailers? Thanks

join an mma gym or boxing gym if you like that better. but the mma gym will usually hook u up with equipment or give you a deal to buy all the equipment you need. need gloves mma or boxing, shin guards, mouth guard, and head gear.

when sparring you go light not full force, because then it gives you a chance to work on what you need to work on, and not injure your self or training partners.

but in all reality joining a gym is the best way to go because then your learning the correct techniques, and will have numerous sparring partners.

You need to join a boxing or MMA gym. Sparring, without actually knowing any techniques or having any self-control, is a recipe for disaster. A lot of boxing gyms won’t even let you spar until you’ve had six months of training.
