Jane ~
Before Everlast there was BenLee (Marciano being one of the more famous to wear their trunks and gloves) so, in my opinion they would be the oldest. There is also Tuf-Wear, Spartan and even Wilson and McGregor got into boxing equipment at one time…….. Below you’ll notice that Tyrone got all his information word for word from Yahoo or Goggle “Everlast History” what the article fails to say is that Everlast is the oldest manufacturer of Boxing equipment. I got my answers from more than 30 years in and around the sport, my Father was a fighter and his father was a fighter.

Everlast. The only thing the gloves are good for is for clowns to use at children’s birthday parties.

EVERLAST. The name Everlast is synonymous with boxing. Renown internationally as a manufacturer of boxing equipment, Everlast started out as a swimwear manufacturer in 1910. The company was founded by Jacob Golomb and headquartered in the Bronx, NY.

In 1917, a young fighter named Jack Dempsey introduced boxing to Golomb and Everlast. Dempsey asked Golomb to construct protective headgear that would last more than 15 rounds of intensive boxing training. Golomb specially designed the training gear for Dempsey

First of all, allow me to congratulate you on your new position at Yahoo Answers!!!

Reach, Spalding, Goldsmith, Levinson, Draper, and Maynard. Unless you’re an avid boxing fan or historian, these names of early boxing glove manufacturers are meaningless. Yet, probably the most recognized brand — Everlast — first appeared nearly 80 years ago.

Slazenger is a British sports equipment brand name sold in nearly all parts of the world involving a variety of sporting categories. Established in 1881 it can trace its roots to 1810 and today is one of the oldest surviving sporting brand names

My undestanding though, is that the company no longer produces boxing equipment.

Everlast is the oldest major brand name in boxing. The company was founded in 1910 by a 17-year-old Bronx resident named Jacob Golomb. Golomb, the son of a tailor, wanted to manufacture swimsuits that lasted a full summer. Thus, the name “Everlast”. Several years later, he opened a small retail store to sell his swimwear and began manufacturing other sports equipment.

Everlast is the product name of a boxing equipment manufacturer based in New York. It was founded by Jack Golomb in 1910, and later run by his son, Daniel Golomb.

Everlast produces a large quantity of boxing gloves, athletic shoes, and other gym equipment such as heavy bags and helmets for amateur boxers.

Everlast products are known for their quality and durability and are used in amateur and professional boxing contests as well as on gyms and training camps.

Everlast competes in their market with other top boxing equipment marks such as Cleto Reyes, Tuf-Wear, Winning, Franklin, Title and Ringside Products.

Everlast has been providing equipment for TV show The Contender.

The video game Fight Night: Round 3 features equipment bearing the Everlast name.

In 2006, Everlast released a fragrance called “Original 1910″.

Brand. A major brand would have been the clothes provided by Theseus’ empire. Not necessarily commercialized because it was around 900 BC. A brand by my definition (and also Webster’s) is a mark made by burning with a hot iron to attest manufacture or quality or to designate ownership. It was a “major” brand because Theseus’ ruled the entire Greek Empire, which is considered the world for some back then. So by my deductions,Theseus’ tailors created the first brand of boxing apparel and his other servants created the equipment.
