of course if he’s still champion. Former Pride and Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion just doesn’t sound right. but what if Minotauro lost the belt while still interim, should he not be recognized in history as an official former UFC Heavyweight Champion?
If Randy doesn’t come back, when would they make the Interim Heavyweight Championship the official Title?
and since we’re talking about interim belts, what was up with an interim belt for the welterweight? Serra’s injured, I just didn’t think it was necessary, no?

TO ME HE HIS THE CHAMPION RANDY IS RUNNING SCARE AND CHASING FEDOR BUT HE ISN`T EVEN THE BEST HWT IN THE UFC BIG NOG IS #1 AND MIR#2 AND RANDY HAS`NT BEAT NONE OF THOSE 2 SO RANDY NEEDS TO MAN UP AND FIGHT NOG AND STOP W/ THE CHARADE!!!!
Once Randy’s contract expires and if Big Nog is still the champion, then Big Nog will become the official UFC Heavyweight champion. Just to make it easier, the UFC will probably not schedule Big Nog for another fight until Randy’s contract expires.
Technically, GSP is the interim champion since he was the #1 contender and had to fight Hughes b/c Serra was injured. GSP’s fight was suppose to be for the championship not a number one contender fight.
I’ll just take on the last part since I don’t know the technicalities of the Couture situation.
Serra was to take on Hughes with the belt on the line, of course Serra had to pull out because of injury. GSP stepped in, in his place, and the fight was turned into an interim title match, to give the fans a five – five minute round match of Hughes vs. GSP, rather then risk it potentially going to the score cards after only three.
