never try to learn mixed things. learn one first and then another. don’t get stranded.
i’m a blackbelt in shotokan karate
learn every style you can dont listen to that dude….like G.I. joes say…..knowing is half the battle! wrestling is a GREAT base style cuz they know how to take people down fast! mixed with BJJ or muay thai….its a good start
try your local phone book. you might be surprised on what is on offer. the MMA classes tend to have separate themes each night, so you dont learn MMA in any one class, but through each segment of stand up/striking classes (like Muay Thai/kickboxing) and BJJ (grappling) throughout the week. then you have the mixed class where you can use both.
you will develop a personal theme and philosophy regardless of what you do. so forget the stick with one idea. I stuck with mine for a long time yet welcomed the new training. to cross train is to understand another aspect of the whole.
If you want to be the best fighter or have a real sence of practicle
applicable martial arts… then MMA is for you.
