They are two totally different organizations. I like UFC rules because you can elbow to the head. But I like Pride because you can stomp on a downed opponent or soccer kick him in the head. So basically they both have their strong points, and weak points.

Right now, Pride allows more items than UFC does. When UFC first began, it was basically no holds barred and was more hardcore than Pride, especially since Pride didn’t come around until a few years later than the UFC debut.

It really depends on your definition of “hardcore”, but I would say PrideFC is more Brutal by far, the allow knees, kicks, and stomps to downed opponents (while it is against the rules to elbow on the ground to the face but that rule is just smart it decreases the number of fights stopped due to cuts). The also tend to let the fights go to KOs rather than TKOs, for example at the PrideFC 2006 new years eve show Gold medalist Hideko Yoshida fought James Thompson (a super heavyweight!) after failing to submit Thompson he fell prey to a barrage of punches and even fell out the ring, The pride ref got him back in the ring only to continue the beating and when they were to close to ropes he told them to move to the middle, Yoshida couldn’t even get up so the ref dragged him to the center of the ring and restarted the fight forcing Yoshida to take even more punishment when it very clear he was done, the ref finally stopped.

While the UFC is plagued by early stoppages in fear because refs fear losing their license due strict Atheletic Commission rules.

UFC is a full contact sport. It has mixed martial arts including wrestling. But PRIDE FC is just nothing but kickboxing. You be the judge.

Hands down Pride Fighting because you have more capabilities to hurt people such as kkicking while the opponent is down. Although I have to say I have seen alote of blood shed in the UFC.

UFC IS THE BEST SPORT….PRIDE FIGHTING IS JUST TOO CRAZY…….

kobrajesus April 24, 2010 at 00:39

Pride does’nt allow elbows because elbows create cuts without knocking people out, then they have to halt the fight or call it due to excess blood in the ring. Both are pretty much equally hardcore.

Brian you have absolutly no idea what you are talking about. You think PRIDE is kickboxing? You mean K-1 is kick boxing. PRIDE FC is MMA and has less rules than the UFC. Please research the rival MMA organization that is right next to UFC before you talk.

Thanks
