Which UFC fighter do you think is the worst fighter to ever win a championship?

by MasterBlaster on April 29, 2010

The heading says it all.

My opinion is gonna have to be Tim Silvia
GSP is probably the best fighter in the world I just had to add that in there.

My opinion is George Greaser St.Piere,
The whole vaseline incident just bummed me out.

*Greg Nurse, Oh, I didn’t know

The Nevada State Athletic Commissioner,
Oh, you did not know, ohhhh

UFC
Who cares, we just want the dollars

BJ PENN
I just want a fair fight.
(In the 2nd round BJ was applying a triangle choke, and I was in disbelief that GSP slide, slide slippery slide right through the heel locks of Penn.)

If GSP vacanted the belt, ]
If Penn vs. GSP rematch
If Nevada State Athletic Comm gave consquences to GSP and the camp
If UFC would have made a formal announcement

I would have respect, but not one of them did..

I have the feeling a lot of people will take an easy out and sa Serra, but i disagree. serra is actually a beast who KO’d GSP at the top of his career, and I think there is only an elite few welterweights and lightweights that could handle him even now past his prime.

if we’re talking modern Champions I’m going to have to agree with you 100% on Tim Sylvia. he was such a disgrace to the belt a 43 year old man came out of retirement to beat his ass so he didn’t have to see him with the belt anymore.

I think the worst “successful” champion would have to be his lucky ass team-mate Matt hughes. I have no idea how many lucky wins that guy had. He was a decent fighter, but no where near as good as his record makes him look. I mean even when he won the belt he was outcold from a triangle choke. they had to wake him up to tell him he won. and man how about when BJ seperated his rib in their second fight. Matt was taking the worst beating of his life, and then BJ gets hurt and couldn’t move in the 3rd round. what a reak. I’m not even going to mention the countless BS decisions he should have lost, but miraculously won.

GSP IS THE BEST

Anthony T April 29, 2010 at 19:17

I’d go with Brock Lesnar, hes only had like 6 fights and already has a champion ship over dumbass Frank Mir. They need to put him up against an actual opponent, not some 40 lbs. lighter than Lesnar match!

And GSp is NOT! the greatest fighter….hes good but, hes not the best…

WilliamG April 29, 2010 at 19:24

greased or un-greased st. pierre is definitely one of the best fighters in the world.
i’d have to say Tim Silvia is a damn good answer. let me throw this out there- if you can’t succesfully defend your belt at least once you shouldn’t have it in the first place(actually i think Matt Hughes said something like that), or if you use ‘roids like in Silvia’s case.

Tim Sylvia.. Also I think fedor or Anderson silva would take the crown for best in the world though gsp is the man.

Forrest Griffin. All he does is strike and from his last fight everyone can see he’s not good at that either.

Complete Wannabe April 29, 2010 at 21:11

maurice smith, probably. he really wasn’t ever that great. either him or dave menne. neither were terrible, but out of the list of champions, they were the worst

I got this one…to easy. How about Matt Serra. Tim Silvia at least defended his title a few times and won. Matt Serra lost in his first title defense.

Forrest, nothing personal.

NOFEar April 29, 2010 at 22:33

Brock Lesner, hes fought a few guys not even close to his weight, hes a fake.

Also Forrest Griffin, that guy SUCKS! Hes never beaten anyone up well. Hes striking defense is terrible. Its a shame.

Dave Menne

In current times I believe Tim takes the cake…..although Brock isn’t far behind imho!

Sylvia actually did quite well with his “stall and brawl” tactic. He beat Arlovski twice, as well as Jeff Monson and Ricco Rodriguez.

I’d say probably Dave Menne. If you’re asking, “Who?”, then you get my drift. He was the UFC’s first Middleweight champ, beating Gil Castillo. Again, “Who?” Yeah.

Steve Jennum was an alternate in the early days of the tournament. He got the shot after Shamrock backed out. Other than the win of the tournament he won his next fight, then lost three and retired. 2-3

@Marco I know what your saying there . In the current economy its difficult to find a job that pays good enough to live on and is consistent. I have found that if you just work hard and are consistent you can go places . Look at the author of this page , they are clearly hard working and have just been consistent over time and are now enjoying at least what would appear as somewhat of a success. I would encourage everyone to just keep hustling and moving forward.
