why do I feel that MMA is human cock fighting?

no offense, but i think it’s because you don’t know anything about it. it is so diverse, intense, and competitive in it’s own nature, it is nothing like what we have seen before. professional athletes from diverse backgrounds, different countries, different areas, different upbringings all mastered in different forms of fighting like for stand up we have boxing/muay thai/ and kick boxing, those three alone have such a diverse nationality, background and style, and have evolved from ancient techniques of each who have practiced them. like say boxing which began in greece, made it’s way to england (also an ancient irish martial art is very similar to old school boxing, except it involves shin kicks) and then it was boxing was mastered in America. and that is just one element of many in stand up and in MMA. the list goes on. the same from grappling and wrestling, possibly the oldest sports in human history, and it is just an evolved form brought up now to be extremely effective and it is just one element of the sport. remember, MMA is now a sport, and the training is something else. lets say on a professional level that most NFL, NHL, NBA, and NBA athletes could not survive a single intense workout with the proper preparation (like a year of doing stand up practice, wrestling and ju jitsu so they don’t get bones broken in practice), much less a fight, without serious injury of fatality. so i hope you understand, when you watch something going on in a bar, or in someones back yard, then yea it’s pretty much unlicensed boxing, which IS human cock fighting. but when you are watching things like the UFC, or strikeforce (soon to be owned by the UFC) then in that, you should not judge something you don’t fully understand.

I think your to just closed minded. you don’t have to like the sport, but don’t try to compare it to animal cruelty when you don’t even want to try and understand it. The fighters train almost every day to become the best well rounded athletes in the sport, they are not forced to fight, it is there job.

I have no idea what is in your mind you have to answer that for yourself. Roosters don’t choose and MMA fighters don’t go to the death. I have a friend that thinks football is to brutal and only encourages aggressive war like behavior, that is fine that is her sensibility and opinion so she doesn’t watch. i recommend the same to you, don’t watch MMA if you feel it is all that bad.

Maybe it’s because all the blood strewn around the ring, and the people in the stands screaming for more. It takes a pretty cold person to find enjoyment in that.

No, but seriously – the only way it would look like that is if you had no previous experience in combat sports. You never saw a quality kickboxing match, had no idea what BJJ is all about, never popped in an entertaining martial arts movie, dismissed any and all wrestling as pure fiction, and/or thought boxing was a bitter science.

This whole human cock fighting thing is the dumbest argument about MMA ever. If you don’t like MMA, don’t watch, but don’t get all wound up because there are people who enjoy it and that there are people who train as hard as any other professional athlete to compete by their own choice.
