Mayweather would want more than $10 mil for the fight, many times more than any MMA fighter ever. If WHite pays Mayweather 10 mil for the one-sided circus fight that it would be, how much longer would it be until the UFC and PRIDE champions start getting ridiculous sums of money for a fight? I think that the relatively low fight purses are what has allowed the UFC to grow so fast, as far as the company goes.

It would settle the debate over which style of fighter is better…
For one Dana White said he wont allow this fight to happen. For two he wont pay him that much money to get an azz whipping in the first round.

it would be good in away and in one way it would be bad. sherk would win if he could get his hands on him but i think he would show the world that mma is the way of fighting but it would look better if he throw bj penn at him so it would be ugly for mayweather but if he even throw 1 million to 10 million how would randy take that were he only got 250 thousand $ against tim for his last fight but we all know he getting payed for his contract so he getting money all year long but i would like it to happen but mayweather got to much pride to take a fight in the ufc. he would fight DE la hoya again before he would even think about stepping in the ufc
boxing is a more dangerous sport though, he’d get beaten in seconds where as in a boxing ring he’d get beaten for up to 12 rounds, win or lose. I think fighters’ bottom rate purse should be whatever thier hospital bills are for both winner and
loser. after that then whatever they actually make adds on.
I think it would be a really good fight for mma, and a really bad fight for boxing. Professional boxers in the past have dabbled in mma in the past and lost. As for the money inssue, yeah I would imagine it would piss some guys off but I don’t think it would be that bad. It’s not going to matter much though because the prices the fighters are paid will be changing very soon. As the sport keeps growing it becomes easier to pay the big name guys, huge lump sums of money. With espn already showing a MMA clip (crocop getting gonzaga kicked). It won’t be long before it gains the status of an official sport. I mean just look at the last 3years how much it has grown.
MMA doesn’t need a fight like that, especially UFC. Either Lorenzo Fertitta or Dana White has gone on record as saying that when the purchase of PRIDE was made that there will be no more circus like mis-match fights. No more Wanderlei Silva fighting guys twice his size like Mark Hunt or Josh Barnett, no more super heavyweight fights, ect. Now for a fight like that to happen there would be so many stipulations to protect Mayweather it wouldn’t be that good a fight to see.
A small promotion out in AC, NJ called Caged Fury is going to have a cross over fight in which Ray Mercer will be fighting a known internet street brawler in Kimbo Slice in a regulated MMA match inside a steel cage. That fight could put CFFC on the map or simply get it its 15 minutes of fame.
Either way, Mayweather isn’t about to throw away an unbeaten 38-0 record to step into a cage & fight. You’d have a better chance seeing him in an exhibition match at a PRIDE event inside a ring. But as I stated earlier about Zuffa taking the circus like fights out of PRIDE and getting back to basics, that ain’t gonna happen!
Two totally different styles of fighting, would take away from each style. MMA and espeically UFC seems to be doing fine on its own. And Mayweather doesn’t need to prove anything.
By “one-sided circus fight” you of course mean that Sherk would dominate. If Sherk dominated Floyd under MMA rules(which he would) than the general public would see how dominant these athletes actually are and they would get respect.
No chance Mayweather would get $10M for the fight. Greedy bastard.
I hope Mayweather gets the fight with Sean Sherk though, under MMA rules. Sherk should be able to GNP him until his corner throw in the towel. Mayweather has no ground game at all, Sherk should be able to take him down and keep him there to beat his brain’s out.
Don’t worry about it because it is not happening. First off, Floyd is retiring, second off he is a boxer and has trained his life in boxing, so he will be going into this fight a huge underdog because he will be in an mma fight. The guys is not stupid, why would he wants to hurt his rep and legacy for money when his is already rich and he knows he will most likely lose becuase MMA is much different.
